Chakra Asana Yoga
Chakrasana or Urdhva Danurasana posture in yoga works energetically on all the Chakras, hence its a deep and intense posture in yoga, with great therapeutic effects.
Chakras are energy centres in the body. We have 6 or 7 of them in the body depending on which tradition one follows.
The 90 minute Chakra Asana class is based on a shortened version of the 2 hour class that Peter follows in workshops and retreats. The class is slow and meditative with an emphasis on feeling prana in the body/chakras. At the beginning of the class the body is prepared for the chakra yoga postures that follow. Kriyas are also used in the class to transfer energy through the body. All the Chakras in the body are activated and balanced.
Drishti (focal points), bandhas(locks), mudras(hand gestures), breathing practices and breath awareness are used extensively in the class.
The class is suitable for those who have been practising yoga for a while and/or are able to feel prana (energy).

Peter's style of Yoga is a syn
thesis of Yog a and Vipassana Meditation
The Synthesis follows the teaching of Sri Ramana Maharshi, Swami Sivananda, S.N. Goenka and Mansoor
This can be outlined by the following steps:
- Special emphasis is placed on the breath, both in the Asana practise but also more directly in Pranayama and Meditation. The name “Anasa” in Greek means breath as a life force, which more accurately describes what the Breath really is and how it is understood by Yogis. Full Yogic breath is employed and channelled using concentration
- Opening of the Chakras (energy centres) by using concentration and breath in the various Asanas
- Concentrating the mind internally on the breath and body sensations, bringing us into a state of Meditation
- Balancing the Nostrils (Ha-tha), this allows the Sushumna Nadi to be activated, awakening Kundalini energy
- Moving Prana to the higher Chakras and experiencing higher states of consciousness
- Mind concentration is helped by employing techniques to relax the mind, eliminating any expectations and not taking ourselves seriously, yes you will also have fun!
The synthesis of the above brings about effective healing at all levels, Body, Mind and Spirit.
